slow-cooker scalloped potatoes

ingredients
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup water
8 - 10 medium potatoes, sliced
1 onion, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups grated cheese
1 (10 3/4 oz) can cream of chicken soup, undiluted

directions

In large bowl, dissolve cream of tartar in water. Place potatoes in bowl immediately after slicing. Toss all the potatoes together and drain.

Put half of the potatoes in the slow cooker and sprinkle with half the onion, half the cheese, and salt and pepper if desired. Repeat with remaining potatoes, onion and cheese.

Spoon soup over the top and put the cover on the slow cooker. Cook on low 8 - 10 hours or on high for 4 hours.
