All the Good Girls

I began to write this novel just as a lark for Nanowrimo 2004. Hell if I know how I got the idea, but I had a very lovely outline done by the middle of October, and waited impatiently for November 1 so I could start in on my 50,000 words. In true me style, I finished out November with either 26- or 27,000 words, which I consider to be a huge accomplishment since we're still talking about ME here.

"All the Good Girls" spans a time period of over several years. Ed Hailey is a nice, young man working a blue collar job that he doesn't particularly care for. He puts up with it because he wants to provide for the woman he's married - Polly, the the love of his life, and the daughter of his former boss. Their life together is perfect - except that, unbeknownst to anyone else, Ed can't stop killing young women.

Some blah-blah: Possibly offensive, discretion advised, etc.

Word count as of 6/25/05: 86,300

Job hunting This is the part of the story where Ed and Polly meet for the first time.

Graduation This section immediately follows the one above. A couple of years have gone by and Ed is getting ready to leave high school just as Polly is getting ready to begin it.

Prom pictures There's a very short bit missing between the previous section and this one; I left it out because it is just Ed and his mom arguing, and I don't really like the way it's written. In this part we take a bit of a jump into the future, to Polly's senior year.

Babysitting blues Even in the bright days of 1982, 9-year-old Ed Hailey's mama won't leave him unchaperoned. NEW
